Executive Coaching

It has been Bill’s experience that people come to coaching for many reasons. Whether it’s for career advancement or performance improvement and/or development, the common element is about making a change. For many people, making change takes courage. Coaching provides a conversation forum for self-discovery and understanding of how one can move through the obstacles or challenges to the actualization of their desired change.

As a professional life coach Bill listens, observes and customizes the process of coaching to his client’s desired goals. Together the client and Bill create a partnership designed to explore, discover and accelerate their strengths and untapped potential. By understanding how committed the client is to the change they are wanting, clients begin to discover their true life agenda and create mechanisms for positive change to enhance the quality of both their professional and personal life.

Goals are reached by seeking to elicit solutions and strategies from the client and holding them as creative, resourceful and whole. Bill’s role as a professional coach is to provide support in enhancing the skills, resources and creativity that the client has discovered, initiating what it’s going to take for them to have the courage to commit to improve their performance.

Assessment tools

amethyst-wholeBill recommends and offers the EQ-i 2.0 Leadership Assessment as part of his approach for leadership coaching. The second generation EQ-i 2.0 Leader Assessment measures the client’s results against not only the median average but also the top 100 emotionally intelligent leaders in North America.

By utilizing the EQ-i 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Assessment as a leadership assessment tool, the results of this assessment not only highlight client strengths and areas for improvement but also their blind spots.  Understanding both the scientific and personal connections between the various emotional intelligence skills allows further enables the client and Bill to work together to design a process for improved leadership performance.

If an individual wants a broader understanding of their emotional intelligence as it impacts others in their organization, the 360º Leadership Assessment may also be considered as part of the leadership development program Bill would recommend and provide.

Bill will also use any existing assessment tools that the client has already completed (ie; Myers Briggs, Kolbe, etc.) as a tool for expanding their awareness of potential opportunities to consider for development of their performance agenda.

Team Coaching

Bill utilizes the “living systems approach” to team coaching. With any pre-determined goals set, Bill works with the team as the experts in their work facilitating an “appreciative approach”. This empowers the team to gain the awareness that allows them to anchor best practices and make choices that will effectively address any issues and gaps as they move forward as a collaborative team.

Authenticity Leadership Workshops

The development of Bill’s 4-part Authenticity series of workshops on embracsnowdropsing the benefits of authenticity takes the participants on an interactive journey of learning how to be a more effective authentic leader by developing their emotional intelligence skills, building authentic relationships and living their authentic life purpose.

These workshops take the leadership pillars of authenticity, collaboration, innovation and visionary articulation to bring about optimum leadership and are comprehensive in building confident, impactful leaders.

These workshops were launched in 2014 and corporate versions of the program can be customized to accommodate organizational needs and challenges. An off site leadership retreat version is also available.

Mentor Coaching

treeBill has well over a decade of experience of being a professional life coach. During that time Bill has been on the Adler faculty as a facilitator of the Coaching Certificate Program and Practicum Lead. This facilitator role has provided him with deep knowledge and understanding of the theory and science behind coaching. His successful coaching practice has provided him with diverse coaching experiences that enabled him to also master the art and heart of coaching. His mentor coaching is customized to the individual’s learning needs and challenges with the ICF competencies of coaching. Mentor coaching is focused on the deepening of coaching competency skills and is not about coaching personal issues or how to build a coaching business. If desired, a combination of personal and mentor coaching is an option that can be provided.

International Coach Federation

The International Coach Federation (ICF) offers the following philosophy and definition of coaching. 

The ICF adheres to a form of coaching that honours the client as an expert in his/her personal and/or professional life, and believes that every client is creative, resourceful and whole.

Professional coaching is an ongoing partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance and enhance their quality of life.

Standing on this foundation, the coach’s responsibility is to:

  • Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve
  • Encourage client self-discovery
  • Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies
  • Hold the client responsible and accountable

Coaching accelerates the client’s progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. This process helps clients dramatically improve their outlook on work and life, while improving their leadership skills and unlocking their potential.

In each meeting, the client chooses the focus of the conversation, while the coach listens and contributes observations and questions. This interaction creates clarity and moves the client into action. Coaching concentrates on where clients are today and what they are willing to do to get to where they want to be tomorrow.
